This easy-to-use book focuses on academic interventions for children who have problems learning. The book describes the PASS theory and illustrates how to apply the interventions in the book. The interventions are designed for working with students ages 5-17, with an emphasis on ages 8-14.The second section of the book includes approximately 50 handouts designed to be shared by the school psychologist with teachers and parents. The handouts cover a variety of skills related to general academic tasks, such as paying attention and listening, and specific subject areas, such as reading and writing. Each handout contains background on a skill, a description of the intervention, an explanation of which children should use the intervention, and a description of how to apply the intervention in the classroom. All of these handouts are photocopiable.
